This activity is being held since 2003, to encourage Physics Teachers to conceive and set up original innovative experiments in Physics. This competition is held every year at the venue of the IAPT annual convention. Innovation rather than sophistication is the main theme and therefore the use of computers for data acquisition and display is not allowed.

1. The participant can be a teacher at any level. The participant can even be a M. Phil. / Ph. D. awarded / pursuing student or a scientist from regional / national laboratory or a science communicator working in science centers, etc. He /She need not be a IAPT member.

2. The experiment should be an original one, designed by the participant. It can be even a demonstration type experiment.

3. There will be two categories of entries and prizes on the basis of age. Top 3 experiments from each category A and B may be awarded cash prizes.

There should be only two files (in PDF format) attached to the email.

4.1 The first file (with file name: Bio data) should mention:

(i) Title of the experiment,

(ii) Name and age of each participant,

(iii) Institutional affiliation of each participant,

(iv) Address for correspondence,

(v) mobile number (s),

(vi) All the authors must sign the following declaration. “The proposed experiment is original, designed and developed by the participant(s) and not published / submitted elsewhere”.

4.2 The second file (with file name: experiment) should contain

(i) Title of the experiment,

(ii) Abstract of the experiment (not exceeding 300 words),

(iii) Detailed theory with necessary diagrams, procedure, observations, calculations, graphs, results, and references.

(iv) There is no limit for the number pages. The participant should not write his / her name, name of college / school, etc. anywhere in this second file.

(v). Also try to highlight the innovations you have incorporated and its importance as a teaching aid.

(vi). Please use Times New Roman font, font size 12, line spacing 1.5, and justified, maintain sufficient margins on all sides.

5. Selected entries from each category will be invited for demonstration at the 32nd IAPT convention to be held at Haridwar (29-31 Oct. 2017). The invited entries will be paid full railway fare from work place to convention place plus expenses on carrying the equipment (if any) as per IAPT rules. In case of joint authors only one of the participants is eligible to receive travel support from IAPT (as per IAPT rules). The selected participant has to come with his own setup for final evaluation on 28th Oct. 2017as well as demonstration.

8. The abstracts of all the selected experiments will be published in IAPT bulletin after the competition. IAPT bulletin has ISSN number 2277-8950.
